Retail Jobs

notes;

Varied products, interesting role

Retail colleagues are helpful, like a comfort blanket for customers, knowledgeable and helpful.

You need to be interactive with pets, training means you learn about nutrition, animal care and best advice.

Keeping the stores stocked is important, not having foods means people’s animals will be impacted.

Values and behaviours are important in retail (as they are elsewhere but it’s said store colleagues bleed green!)

Takes 9 months to get through the basic training

Welfare of pets is paramount. Vets are usually onsite, the Distribution Centres deliver the stores fresh veg and mineral water for the pets for sale!

The pet delivery drivers and pet checkers are all PAH colleagues

My Pet Pals is an instore education programme for children, they’ve committed to educating 2 million children on pet care/ownership by 2030

Strict rules on pet purchases, every colleague has the right to refuse a sale

Head of pets was a Vet, so all animal welfare and procedures as expert as they can possibly be

Ethical products, recycle scheme for food packaging

Overtime available, could work dual stores, student contracts,

Potential for career progression, in store or with the wider group, Groom Room, Support Office, Distribution Centre – lots of potential for personal growth

Retail roles require, dedicated colleagues, hard work in a fast paced environment with great team work – in a small team it’s a friendly family feel all pulling in the same direction – to do the right thing for pets and their owners.

Each store has it’s own local charity if fundraises for – fun days, fancy dress. Lots of fun to work in! Lots of local community feel and their to help local pet owners.

old copy for reference;

The people make the place – working at Pets at Home is fun. It’s also professional and expert, inspiring and supportive, respectful and brave – we need to be when there are many more opportunities to realise every day.

Joining our in-store team, you’ll be free to put pets first and achieve our business aims. That means setting or meeting objectives and KPIs – depending on which role you join us in – by delivering exceptional customer service. Our customers expect that you’ll approach and make them feel welcome, listen to their needs, offer great solutions and thank them for their visit.

If you can do all of that, meeting our exceptional retail standards along the way, you’ll find lots of opportunities – and all the support you need – to grow your skills and work your way around the store or up the ladder. Lots of our people already have.
